Telugu Cinema Revenues – Testing Times

Come this October, and you would witness high budget Telugu Movies releases. With the likes of Mahesh Babu Mahesh Kaleja, NTR Brindavanam, Ram Gopal Varma Rakta Charitra and Endhiran – The Robo (dubbed), the up market trend fortunes of Telugu cinema industry would largely be influenced.

Since all these high budget films are releasing in October and next 3 months, the revenues from films are significant to Telugu film industry. With very few films hitting the deck and engrossing profits since last year, the chances of big movies making revenues are highly skeptical.

But the pre-release hype for all the big budget Telugu movies is really inspiring and is drawing the audience to the crowd – resulting in massive openings. However, the film’s longevity would boil down to the real content, flavor, screenplay and the genre.

On the flip side, the small and medium budget movies are bearing the brunt. These small Telugu movies are facing the music on account of poor openings, lack of theater availability and enough funds for movie promotion. All this putting the small producers on the back foot.
