Story:
Komaram Puli (Pawan Kalyan) is an honest IPS officer and supposes every citizen and police officer needs to do their duty. During his childhood, his father, who is also a police officer gets killed by the Mafia don Al Saleem. Then Saranya (Komaram Puli’s mom) determines and presumes his son Komaram Puli to be become a police officer. In a rather peculiar incident, Al Saleem’s car is towed and Komaram Puli in the process of investigation comes to know that about the relationship between Nixon, another terrorist and Al Saleem. The plot ends as how Komaram Puli lock horns with Al Saleem and does the inevitable.
Analysis:
Pawan Kalyan’s Komaram Puli comes with a message-oriented film and Pawan Kalyan dazzles as a powerful cop. However, one just gets the feeling that director SJ Surya should have done a better job towards the climax. Once again as the story progresses, Komaram Puli becomes cinematic and dramatized.
SJ Surya shows desperation of presenting Pawan Kalyan in a different way and he is very successful. Pawan Kalyan looks elegant and dominant as a cop. His characterization has also been sketched well. The story focuses more on terror plot, high voltage action, and no romantic and melodrama.
Pawan Kalyan has done very well in action episodes and some of the shots keep you on the edge of your seat. But the movie is faltering in terms of screenplay where the movie has an explosion, followed by a car chase capped off by a shoot-out.
Komaram Puli has the same flavor and spirit that a typical message driven movie has with added elements, but SJ failed to live up to the expectations. There are some major disappointments like lack of humor, excitement towards the climax, etc. An action movie should facilitate entertainment, but escapism seems to be taking centre stage.
If you like split skulls, compete decapitations, eye raising action, and the occasional suddenly missing limb, Komaram Puli is definitely for you
The movie opens with the main backdrop followed by power star introduction and then gets into the thick of the action. The second half looks to be very intense, but loses grip.
Performance:
Power Star Pawan Kalyan lived up to the expectations in fact, surpassed. This is the first time he’s playing a cop and has done a phenomenal job. His sharp looks, blaze elegance and body language have made everyone spellbound. No wonder, he has to shoulder the film.
Nikesha Patel is adequate in her debut. She crackles the screen with her vigor, hot looks and good performance.
Manoj Bajpai does a great job and his conversations with Pawan Kalyan are very gripping. Nasser, Ali are good as well.
Technicalities:
Ask Bollywood ace Cinematographer Binod Pradhan how to elevate the film’s visual appeal – here come the answer. He did a tremendous job. Songs are already a hit. The background score by AR Rahman is very good, particularly in the action episodes.
All in all, Komaram Puli has all types of action sequences and super soppers. Nonetheless, the film disappoints with lack of gripping screenplay, treatment and poor narration.
